Elizabeth Gilbert's COMMITTED

Elizabeth Gilbert to discuss the inspiration for Committed on Oprah

Committed (9780670021659 / Viking), the new memoir from internationally bestselling author Elizabeth Gilbert, launched this week to a flurry of major media. Gilbert will be on Oprah next Wednesday, January 13, to talk about her inspiration for writing Committed and what she's learned about marriage from cultures around the world. Canadian media interest has been high, and much more is expected in the coming month. Gilbert will be in Toronto February 24-25. Marketing and advertising includes full-page colour ads in Hello magazine (Best of 2009 issue) and Costco Connection (January/February issue); Toronto bus-shelter advertising, including Toronto event information; and travel prizing and cross promotion with Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Chatelaine (featured in March issue). Online marketing includes a banner and homepage feature on Penguin.ca promoting the book and the Toronto event; Penguin Book Club featured author; Toronto event promotion through such social media sites as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Ning, and Flickr; and Bloggers & Books Network program outreach.
